Just like that we're in March. Two months out of the year are gone already. I hope you all are having tremendous experiences thus far. Suffice to say 2014 has been one of the more challenging years I've had in a long time but at the same time it has been amazing. Weird I know but that's another subject for another day. I have a more pressing issue on my mind that I want to address with today's blog.
If you know me then you know as much as I love H-Town (that's Houston, TX for my non Houstonians), NYC has my heart. I love everything about New York including it's premier basketball team. No not the New Jersey Nets (yes I said New Jersey) but the New York Knickerbockers. About a week ago the starting guard for the New York Knicks (Raymond Felton) was arrested on felony gun charges. As bad as that is, that's not what caused me to write today’s blog. That would be the alleged situation in which it was his estranged wife (who recently filed for divorce) was the one that reported him and allegedly took the gun to the police station to file the complaint. Now, Felton faces three felony gun charges and that could possibly land him as much as 15 years in jail.
Why did that prompt me to start writing you ask? From all the reports so far (and I could be wrong) it just seems as if she did that out of spite in some way. She did that to get back at him for whatever he may have done to her. We don't know what he did, but at this point it looks like what she did was a reaction to whatever that was. You could call me paranoid if you want, or just a young man with trust issues but I find that highly alarming and suspicious.
Now the question that I want answered as a result of that whole situation is...wait for it...WHY? Why do women do things like that? It seems like a man does a woman wrong in some way and in order to get him back she goes over the top. Tit for tat but the tat far outweighs and outguns the tit, if that makes sense. She hits him where it hurts and then some. I would venture to say that whatever he did to her does not warrant him to spend 1 day in jail, not to talk of 15 years. On top of that, this could possibly derail the rest of his career. Why do that?
It's crazy to me that someone could feel so wronged that they feel the need to go to extremes like that. Messing with a mans life and career is what you call taking things too far. Not to talk of the fact that these extremes actions are being carried out by that's supposed to love you. Don't get me wrong. I'm not absolving the men that put women in these situations by doing them wrong. These men have some culpability as well but there are just certain things you don't do even if it's out of revenge. Now if said man puts his hands on the woman all bets are off and disregard everything I’ve said. Besides that though, I cannot really think of too many situations in which derailing a mans career, his livelihood, and his ability to fend for and provide for his family is acceptable.
What is the reason for going that far? Is it that you’re so blinded by rage that you don’t care about the consequences of your actions? In the event that such actions are justifiable, what has to be done to warrant such a reaction?
Crazy thing is when men feel wronged by women we have similar train of thoughts. In the sense that how can I get her back. It crosses our minds. I know it crosses my mind (it actually crosses my mind a lot because I hold grudges but that's besides the point). In my crazy mind, while I'm thinking of how to get her back, never in a million years do I think of doing something that would potentially hurt a woman being able to make a living for herself or that would change the course of her future. Never that. That's why I'm always in awe when I hear or read stories in which women do things like that.
"Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.” Now that’s a saying that surely applies. It just has to. The fire in the woman burns deep when she’s scorned and it destroys everything in it’s way. In this case it’s the man.
I need answers though. Please. It's a simple question too...WHY?
